Last Sunday, I ran the annual Tunnel to Towers race with two of my friends and thousands of men and women from the FDNY, NYPD, and various armed services. I’ve wanted to do this for years, and am so happy to have finally taken part. The story behind it is as moving as the actual race. T2T was started in remembrance of Steven Siller, a firefighter whom on 9/11 ran the 3.1 miles from his fire house in Brooklyn through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Towers wearing 80 pounds of gear. Along with the rest of his squad, Siller passed away that day. The race is a great dedication to him and everyone who fight for us every day.
